Mechanic

Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains construction equipment such as excavators, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, bulldozers, backhoes, pumps, compressors and small tools.
Education Requirements: High school diploma. Technical training on the repair and maintenance of construction equipment, engines, and sub-assemblies. Knowledge of computers as used for parts sourcing and electronic diagnostics.
Experience Requirements: Five (5) or more years of repair and maintenance experience on heavy construction equipment.
Desired Knowledge and/or Skills: Construction equipment and vehicle preventative
maintenance, repairs and maintenance. Included would be engine and other component
rebuilding, electrical and hydraulic systems knowledge and welding capability.

Essential Job Functions: Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects. Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using hoists and hand tools. Repair, rebuild, or replace worn, broken or defective parts, engines and sub-assemblies. Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Weld broken parts and structural members. Interact well with other employees and customers.
Physical Demands: Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, near acuity, depth perception, and visual accommodation. Medium work strength rating.
