Laborer

Performs a combination of tasks, usually working in a utility

capacity, as a member of a construction crew on a project consisting of grading,

underground utilities, asphalt paving, and/or miscellaneous other construction work.

 

Education Requirements: High school diploma preferable.

 

Experience Requirements: Introductory-None to Senior-Five (5) or more years of

construction experience encompassing grading, underground utilities and asphalt paving.

 

Desired Knowledge and/or Skills: Dependable, quality oriented, self motivated and

able to work effectively with minimal supervision. Class “A” or “B” license a plus. Knowledge of OSHA regulations. Competent with laser set-up and use (senior level-grading). Some familiarity with plan and stake reading (grading & underground).

Essential Job Functions: Dig, shovel, mix, pour, spread and level dirt, gravel,

concrete, asphalt and other materials. Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools

and supplies. Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas. Place, join, wrap and

seal pipe and other materials in underground utility ditches. Interact well with other employees and customers. Attend work consistently and regularly. Ability to work in a safe manner.

 

Other Job Functions: Valid driver’s license and ability to drive pickup trucks to and

from job sites may be required on occasion.

 

Physical Demands: Frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching,

handling, fingering, near acuity, depth perception and field of vision. Occasional

balancing, crawling, talking, hearing, far acuity and color vision. Very heavy work

strength rating.
